Just getting by’ is not good enough. This case study shares high-performance ingredients to help you shape team and organisational culture.
Culture. Leadership. Habits. Execution. The ingredients that always needed to count as the final whistle blew…
Since winning the first Rugby World Cup (RWC) in 1987, the All Blacks had consistently been the top rugby side in the world, yet they were unable to claim the RWC title again for the next five tournaments. In 2007, they suffered their worst RWC defeat ever (to the French in the quarter finals).
How did a team, who by 2007 had lost five World Cup titles in a row, go on to achieve World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015, with an unprecedented win ratio over 14 years?
By changing their game plan, the All Blacks changed how the game was played. This case study takes you behind the scenes, onto the field and into the locker room, to explore how the All Blacks redefined themselves, how their actions followed suit and what the results were.
“Better People Make Better All Blacks.” Their mantra is central to exploring the team identity that takes shape as the All Blacks redesign themselves for incredible success. Leading by example, we look at the leaders and their decision to change – and we see the impact of this change cascade across the entire team. We follow their journey of building game-specific skill sets that ensure the team is able to overcome struggles, adapt, reset and improve to achieve great performance.
“Successful leaders balance pride with humility: absolute pride in performance; total humility before the magnitude of the task.” – James Kerr
